A studio that wastes nothing.

Handmade pottery can be wasteful, but it doesn’t have to be. Here, everything is set up so that almost nothing reaches the bin. This is what happens to every gram of clay, drop of water, and handful of glaze.

Clay comes back

Trimmings, failed pots, and the slurry from the wheel dry out and are reclaimed — wedged back into workable clay. Until it’s fired, clay is never waste: it can be recycled again and again, endlessly, until it meets the fire.

Water settles and returns

Wash water and glaze water settle in buckets; the clear water is reused and the sediment is dried and reclaimed. Nothing with clay or glaze in it ever goes down the drain.

Glaze mixed in small batches

Glazes are mixed by hand in the amount a firing actually needs, so little is left over. What remains is stored and used again — never tipped away.

Firing with intention

The kiln is loaded full, so no firing is spent on a half-empty load. Pieces are grouped to share bisque and glaze firings — less electricity, more sense.

Packed plastic-free

Orders are wrapped in recycled paper, cardboard, and shredded offcuts — no bubble wrap, no plastic fill. Boxes are reused where they can be. Whatever protects your piece can go straight into your recycling or compost.

Seconds find a home

Pieces that don’t meet the mark aren’t binned — they become studio ware, test tiles, or go to seconds sales. Broken bisque is crushed into grog for future clay.

Slow, made by hand, with respect for the material — that is less wasteful by its nature. A piece built to serve for years is the most sustainable thing I can offer.
